About Linda

Ever since I was little, I liked riding horses, exploring swamps and caves, fishing, collecting insects, and doing messy things like playing in the mud. In those days, adventures weren’t considered proper “girl” things. I

did them, anyway, and I had a great time.

Nancy Drew was my hero. She was inquisitive, strong and always solved the mystery. I wanted to be just like her. I read all the Nancy Drew books…and some of the Hardy Boy books, too (they were all written by the same person). I liked reading so much that, sometimes, I read when I was supposed to be doing other things (like the dishes).

I’ve always loved words and learning about languages, too. Some of my stories began with an idea that came from just one word – or from something in a foreign language. Sometimes, I turn a word into a rhyme, a poem…or a whole story. I make up words, too.

These days, I have lots of helpers. My children and grandchildren, my husband and parents all give me ideas. The animals we had at our farm gave me ideas, too. So did the customers at the bookstore I used to own.

My mother gave me the idea for Grandma Rose’s Magic. A lamb on our farm gave me the idea for The Passover Lamb.

I still love adventures…and I love writing, reading, and traveling to far-away places. I also love helping young (and not-so-young) writers.

I also like making up characters who are spunky and who have the kind of adventures I had (or wished I had) when I was little.

If you have ideas for adventures, I’d love to hear them. Or if you have any comments on my stories, I’d love to hear them, too.
